February shadows

The winter landscape suggests a snowy landscape. The sun fills everything with warmth, and the shadows on the snow burn with cold. Snow adds cool, blue colors to the palette. Long lines of shadow from the trees, short strokes of shadow from the dry grass, and huge, cold patches of shadow behind the small house. All these lines and strokes, like the hands of an hourglass, move behind the sun, sometimes shortening, sometimes lengthening, and at sunset merge into the blue twilight of the evening with a narrow strip of sunset on the horizon.
